Airdate Dec. 5th, 1963 (first episode to air post-JFK assassination) starring Anne Francis. 💜 This and millions of other shows would not exist if the characters knew their rights and simply said "I'd like to remain silent and want an attorney". Interesting theme though regarding a lie detector test. There is a reason they aren't used in court: because they are inherently unreliable.

POST the climax: While the story of the 'tired,' 'had it up to here' gunman is not at all original, but sometimes compelling if well scripted, HERE the cliche of him tossing his expensive Colt into the pond and moments later dropping his custom-made holster and gun belt (with its $5 worth of ammunition in the cartridge loops) into the dirt is unrealistic. Lovely, but poor, Gracia (Linda Lawson) doesn't even have two pesos to her name. If nothing else, she would retrieve the weapon and leather rig and get $40 credit (a HUGE sum THEN and to a POOR person) in trade at the general store. But, more gallantly, for our troubled hero Threepersons (John Gavin), he -- his mind set on 'giving up the gun' -- would have sold his revolver, holster, belt and cartridges to the general store or more likely, a well-heeled local who would be more than happy to give a full, fair price in exchange for such a legendary weapon. AND THEN Threepersons could give the proceeds of the sale to the lady Gracia whom we assume he'll spend the rest of his life with as a loving man and wife.

Great series but I wish that the video were clearer.

OMG! Gloria Swanson! The Oscar-nominated actress was 63 years old here and continued working for ten more years after this before retiring. She passed away in 1983 at the age of 84. Brenda Scott, who played the mystery girl, was 19 here. She appeared in a few dozen TV productions in the 60's, then left acting. She married and then divorced actor Andrew Prine three times between 1965 and 1973. She's been married to prolific writer/producer Dean Hargrove since 1979. She's 81 at the time of this writing (2024.) You may recognize 66-year-old Morris Ankrum, who played "Chief of Police Austin." He portrayed the judge in a couple of dozen episodes of "Perry Mason" in the 60's. He died shortly after filming this episode of Kraft Suspense Theater. 56-year-old Dan Duryea, who played "Lt. Boyd Manners," was in many movies and TV shows in his over-three-decades-long career. He died four years after making this at the age of 61.

These shows are ridiculous. A stranger just walks in your room to have bourbon with you and you act like it is no big deal 🤔

Wow, murky as mud. It was called "battle fatigue" in World War II. Poor fellow by what is the truth. The law won't reveal it because the opposite of guilty in law is not guilty rather than innocent. 28:38 - 28:58 The two females cavort in the surf and 'race' towards their beach towels laid out; Gloria attired in appropriate casual wear, ankle-length pants, long-sleeve blouse and white, short-brimmed hat, and Brenda in a one-piece bathing suit [ed. - surely increasing the attention of a portion of the male viewers already smitten with the fetching Universal contract player]. At 28:47 Gloria gives a playful, loving slap to the fanny of Brenda. Definitely, the beach scene is a nice moment. It 'opens up' "Who Shot Jennifer?" to get us out of the house which is bordering on a feeling of claustrophobia. For those with a bit of knowledge of the complexities and costs involved in filming on location AND who are really, really 'into the story, the mystery,' it's inconceivable that on a tight, episodic television, production schedule that all the necessary equipment and personnel would be sent in trucks, crew buses and vans, talent limos to this scenic spot on a southern California beach for a 20 second scene. *** SPOILER ALERT *** At first glance I thought 'oh, they're doubles of course because 'no way' would they interrupt the filming on the lot with Gloria and Brenda just to get a 20-second shot [nice as it is].' But on CLOSE review, it is indeed the two recognizable actresses. Viewers are used to seeing television episodes where a scene like this is filmed on the sound stage with 'rear projection' images and atmospheric sound effects both of ocean waves substituting for the real thing. The trade-off in removing realism is accounted for in savings of the all-important 'time and money.' . . . But, I 'worried' too soon as well into Act III blows the mystery right back to the water and our two female leads are 'Back to the Beach.' [ed. - title of Annette Funicello's and Frankie Avalon's nostalgic 1987 feature] . . . What is SO IMPRESSIVE is the two actresses 'stepped up to the plate' and filmed those scenes in the rough surf sans body doubles. I'll wager Brenda boasted of Gloria's can-do attitude for years to come on film / TV sets with her peers and crew members. Such an inspiration and what an incredible, lucky break to land this guest star role opposite such an icon within the legacy of early Hollywood. Quip: Why Gloria Swanson hasn't been in front of the camera in the ocean this much since she was rumored to be a Mack Sennett Bathing Beauty nearly a half century earlier, before her super stardom phase of her long career! "Thank you, 'VoicesOn Call - VOCtv,' for this wonderful 'step back in time;' a bonus being it's a good story, compelling, TRUE mystery with talented, familiar performers 'keeping us guessing' . . . With all her dozens of television and movie roles Brenda Scott has entertained audiences of the 1960s, '70s and '80s with, it's outrageously negligent and irresponsible that [apparently] no journalist thought to interview her about working opposite the iconic Gloria Swanson -- AND in a part that necessitated them being together for most of the shoot. A few paragraphs on Dan Duryea wouldn't hurt. They had another, appropriate chance in Oct. 2022 following the death of her ex-husband, actor Andrew Prine. Sigh.

Another good one! Was curious the entire time about how it was going to end. Thomas "Tom" Tyron was so handsome. I mostly remember him from TV westerns and had no idea until today that he was "in the closet." He was only 65 when he sadly passed away. Thanks for the upload. I really enjoyed it.

This was worth watching for the beautiful Anne Francis.

My father was in the 307th, at Lincoln AFB, NE. The base closed in 1965 and the squadron was disbanded. He then went to MATS / MAC on the C124 then C141. The B47 was a problematic plane that killed many of our Airmen.

That was fun.

Gee. Goose Bay sure looks a lot like March Air Force Base! I haven't heard that classic Johnny Williams theme in a long time. It's a great grab for the series. Milner was 33 years old here and made this after the conclusion of his 5-year stint in "Route 66." He was in many other TV productions for three years after this, and then he became "Pete Malloy." His first credited movie role was at the tender age of 15 in "Life With Father" starring William Powell (54), Irene Dunne (48) and Elizabeth Taylor (14). Thanks for posting this!

these looked a lot better on regular tv sets....these needed to be scanned and upscaled properly for todays higher resolution screens. As it is i get a headache from my eyes trying to constantly focus.
